Carefree Campers is a quaint, family-run enterprise specializing in providing top-notch campervans for rental, purchase, and hire through our Campervan Managed Service.
Our mission is to promote more accessible campervan ownership by encouraging individuals to rent them out when not in use. We bridge the gap between those seeking to rent a campervan and those who own them.
As a family with a deep-rooted tradition of camping and adventure, our heritage spans generations. Our childhood vacations revolved around a caravan near Lannacombe Beach in South Devon. We grew up hearing tales of our grandparents touring Europe on a tandem bicycle between wars and our parents hitchhiking from Bulgaria when their car broke down.
My fascination with campervans began at 18 when I purchased an old school bus and transformed it into a camper named Vinni. I cherished that van and embarked on a journey through North Africa with it. Breaking down in the Sahara desert taught me valuable lessons, like the importance of carrying ample water! Fast forward 30+ years, Vinni has been succeeded by Edi, but our love for campervan adventures remains. Nothing brings me more joy than embarking on a lengthy road trip and camping with loved ones. However, the demands of life meant that our camper wasn't utilized every weekend. Hence, I began renting out my campervan, using the earnings to cover its operational costs. The beauty of it was that the more people used our camper, the more we relished hearing about their adventures. Thus, we acquired a second, and then a third campervan.
One of my fondest customer anecdotes involves Sam & Matt, who rented a campervan as their wedding car and embarked on a honeymoon tour of the South Coast. Their original plans for a destination wedding abroad were thwarted by COVID restrictions. We received a last-minute request for a campervan rental and managed to provide them with one, complete with ribbons and bows for their special day. Their story still brings a smile to my face.
Having successfully rented out our campervans, we expanded our services to include renting out campervans belonging to our friends. This allowed them to earn income from rentals while broadening our fleet. The final piece of the puzzle was enabling individuals to purchase a campervan with the intent of renting it out. We handle everything from building the campervan to securing bookings, vetting renters, and remunerating owners for the use of their vehicles.
