After a decade of owning and renting campervans across various countries, we consistently felt that there was room for improvement in their design. At times, we questioned whether the designers had ever truly experienced life in a campervan!
Driven by the conviction that we could do better, we took the leap in late 2005 and established Jerba Campervans. While we initially worked on converting any type of van, we have since focused our expertise on the VW Transporter T6.1. We take pride in our direct collaboration with Volkswagen as a registered vehicle body builder for their Transporter T6.1, transforming it into a VW T6.1 camper. Additionally, we offer three of our designs for hire, allowing customers to experience the campervan lifestyle before making a purchase. This enables us to test new products, fixtures, and fittings before incorporating them into our conversion options.
Our journey with campervans began in the mid-1990s when we purchased our first one, a VW T2, in Canada. Living out of it for two months while traversing from Vancouver to Montreal provided us with firsthand experience as a couple. Since then, our family has grown to include three children born between 1997 and 2001. In 2000, we embarked on a four-month rental trip to New Zealand and Australia, presenting us with a different set of challenges with young children. Through these experiences, we gained valuable insights into what is essential in the layout and design of a campervan.
